hi Guys,
I am a new member to this forum butwhile i haveno car to work on (its at the body shop having a front panel change) i thought i would start a topic on my current project.

The project is,

A 1985 Mayfair in MME Silver,

i have fitted (with help from my dad) the front seats from a 1991 Fiesta MK 3, pianted the bonnet black, and also have bought a secondhand bootlid which is being sprayed black. Before the Mayfair went to be glamed up i fitted a set of 5 Air horns, whichplay the dixie tune. PICS SOON!!!

:worship:

Went to a Motorbike Show today (not mini's but u find some stuff you can adapt to a mini, picked up a nice 12V chrome horn and Managed to get a Proper Numberplate made. A metal one but it is all road legal because it is black script on white background (front plate), so insted of brecking the number plate on the front when it get stones fliked up it just bends and can be pulled back into shape. I will add pics tomorrow!

Ps. can people post back it feels lonly in here lol

Not having a go mate but just so you know your plate has to be made from reflex-reflective material, just being the right colour isn't good enough. So while yours looks legal it technically may not be unless it reflects enough of the light shined on it in the right direction. I just wouldn't want you to get into an argument with a Copper about it since it's a £1000.00 fine for having non British Standard number plates, and with you about to become a new driver soonish you probably will be speaking to the police at some point.

Fair comment, my metal number plate should be road legal, and will pass a MOT, as the British plates 20 years ago were metal

The old plates where pressed black and silver.

What year is your car? 1973 or later and the plate is illegal.

You may get away with it, but as i know been a young driver, police will stop you anywhere. eg.

Local park / cruise site (no reason)
Dropping my newphew at brothers (no reason)
Outside pub i visit weekly (i pulled over and stopped 5mins, looked susipicous they said......i was using my mobile phone)
And many more times, all resulting in nothing, except a young lad driving and them trying to pick faults. They looked around the car and couldnt find anything, not even a bad tyre.

ok my new front plate is a leagal one made of metal it has a white background and black lettering, these where fitted to most cars from when white background was introduced mid - late 60's to mid 80's when plastic was used, (My clubby has standard white/yellow background with black writing number plates which were fitted when new in 1971). My mayfair doesn't have black/silver plates.

Your City more than likly hade stamped ones fitted when new.

What years the car? kiv never seen a metal white and black plate

The year of Registration is 1985
