Well i shall be looking into getting a smart looking van soon, to replace my rather bodge full Neon. Thing i want to know is does the van use the mk1 running gear cause i seen some with a majic wand some without. I wasn't sure if i were to get a van with a majic wand, if i could switch across to a remote gearlinkage without cutting the floor? Also do they use a twin or single bolt subframe? Anyhelp would be great!

It will be the same spec as a base model saloon of the same year of manufacture.

They do have a higher ratio diff.

Ok thanks so ill have to get a van of the Mk2 era on to get away without having a majic-wand? And yeah i take it thats because they have a 850cc block and gearbox? Shouldn't matter hugely as im looking at a bigger small bore transplant.

There are 998's about. Hell there's probably more 1275's as modding them is so popular.

In 1967 vans were available with 998cc engine, however the 848cc engine continued alongside.

Thanks for the info! Well im looking for one as original and with as little miles as possible, only bits that will be modified are the subframes, engine and wheels. The rest will be as original as it can be. Its a long way off anyway, just trying to get an idea of what i need to get to convert parts to go across from the Neon, when i use it as a donor.

Well to give you an idea..
Mines a 998, and its 1967, its a Rod change, and has very little mod cons, not even sound deadening.

Sounds good to me, i don't do mod cons lol! I see your van at Ace Cafe when i was dropping off some calipers for MayfairJimmy. And it does look the muts nuts, very much the sort of look im going for. But yeah i preferably want a rod-change, not too bothered about the engine, cause im hoping i can nick most of that lot from the Neon.

Yeh, I when I went to look at my Van, it was in the dark, and I never looked at what gear change it had, so when it was delivered to me, I was jumping for joy to see a rod change lol

My Van will have a 1380 soon enough, and will look even more like the mutt nuts too, its going for a rebuild over the winter >_<

It may be registered as a '67 but if it's a rod change then it wont be as the rod was first produced in the 70's (circa '73)

It may have been converted, but all 60's minis will be magic wand or remote

*edit* and a quick flick through the flubber pics, reveals the suspected turret bolt of a rubber mounted subframe >_<

Definately does sound nice, i've gotta wait for my budget to rise abit before i can get a van. So im gunna fix my neon as best i can just so it can tied me over, just hope i'll have a van before the neons next MOT, cause atm it'll fail on numerous things. Looking to put all the decent bits off the Neon on the van, so hopefully it'll all work out.
