I have just got some Titan 1.5 ratio roller rockers.

I am dummy building up the head.

The standard A+ flange head nuts catch on the rockers.

I was thinking of turning down the Flange on my lathe. will this work?

One of the books I read lately suggested using old big end nuts and rethreading them to suit the stud thread.
However!!! I have no spare big end nuts. and I also dont trust myself to re thread such an important nut for the engine.

Anybody got a cunning plan/advice, or suggestions on someone helpful to phone

Cheers

(I really should go to bed now or I will lie awake dreaming of Golden Rockers) >_<

I'm not clever enuff to claim this cunning plan as my own...

You can use big end nuts >_<

Think it explains it on the minispares techno blurb for their rollers.

I'd turn the flange down.

I'd turn the flange down.

I have looked at turning the nuts down, but if I do just turn down the flange there is still a possibility that the widest part of the standard nut hex will catch.

So I think the multipoint nut is the best solution.

Shall I put them on all the head studs so I can use one socket to torque down the head, or are they the same size. I dnt mind buying 9 just making sure they will do the job.

However if they can hold the big ends together at 6k rpm they should be fine

I'd stick with the flanged K nuts for the others. It's not like you'll be tackling a cylinder head removal armed with just one socket anyway.

I tried turning down one of the flanged nuts this morning.

I dont think it is going to work the nut still overhangs the rocker pillar.
Unless the head nuts torque up exactly with the flats front to back on the head they may still catch.

So its back to the nuts as above.

I am going to put 9 on. I really cant be bothered changing the sockets on and off the torque wrench every time I move to the next stud while torqueing the head up!

All I need to do now is get a nice shiny rocker cover which will miss them. any suggestions?

Nagging doubt:

Does a big end nut replace the head nut or the other nut on the rocker post???

Might be worth ringing and checking before you buy any.

I dont think the rocker std nuts are a problem as they are a 1/2" nut. the washers may be in the way but I will make others fit or modify them.

More lathe time ;D

From the mini spares website I found they are included in a kit with the rockers. but had the same doubt.

I will PM Simon

I am going to dry build it all up on my spare block before I convert the car so no panic just yet

Just looked at mine (minispares setup), the S big end nuts do replace the head stud nuts - they just look so small in comparison!
