i was driving to work today like i do everyday and as i put my foot on the brake it felt abit stiffer to push....at this point i thought it was a little strange but then it went back to normal, came up to a roundabout and took first exit and put my foot down and then sum idiot pulled out in front of me so i put my foot on the brake expecting it to slow down and it didnt so applied the handbrake and almost crashed!!!

i absolutly pooed my self!!!!

since being at work i have pushed my car back and pressed the brake and its stopped.....im confused!!

i was told i may have a leak in the system....i was told to keep pressing the brake repeatidly(if thats how u spell it lol) and the pedal should get harder to press, then apparently keep my foot on the brake and it should soften but i have done this and its still hard to press

help!

Is it possible that when you had to stop in a hurry your right foot momentarily trod on both brake and accelerator? I have done this a couple of times and it's pretty scary because your brain says the car should be stopping and your eyes say no it bl**dy isn't! It only needs to happen for a split second to carry you forward before your left foot hits the clutch pedal.

If you mean the brakes stopped working altogether for some time, then ignore this.

It doesn't have a servo doesit?

If the pedal doesn't move at all when this happens I'd suspect a faulty master cylinder, possibly some trapped debris. It could just be something obstructing the pedal linkage have a look for foreign objects under your dash or a loose clevis pin.
