Right due to lack of money and problems with the car that need to be fixed, my ice budget is greatly reduced. Originally was going to have a Audiobahn AWP310T sub running on a Audiobahn 1000Wx1 (1 ohm) sub, and a separate amp (C300.2 Polk Momo) for the components (Morel Pulse 5) and a DEHP 77MP head unit.

Now changing plans..

Components will most probably be DLS M5SA (bit more pricey than the Morels but I can't find the morels anywhere anymore...). Head unit is staying as DEHP 77MP.

But Amp will now have to be a 3/4/5 channel jobbie to power the components, and the sub together.

The MRV-F540 or is it 450 would have been nice as it gave out 2x100w for components + 1x200w for the sub but its input voltage is only up to 4 (the Pioneer head unit gives 6.5V)

Either way once I find a nice amp (or perhaps two?) for the job, I'll need a sub that handles about 300-500W RMS, is 10" and doesn't require much volume! Also must go deep in a sealed enclosure (relatively deep), but must be quick too. Basically I'm looking for a SQ sub rather than street bass.

I'm very inclined to go for a DLS or MB Quart unit but does anyone else have any suggestions? (Reasonable price range please!). I'd be getting the DLS / MB Quart units from Russia for rather cheap (components approx 100 pounds, sub is about the same). The head unit will be about 170 pounds from the same place. Just don't have an amp to go with it yet (may get a Fusion amp)...

This may be rambling, but oh well ;p

I made my own sub box and just fitted 2 600w speakers to it. All you need to get right are the port holes in the side for the air flow.

It's all I'll need really, and only cost me the price of the speakers, some MDF, and some carpet to finish it.

u need to get the internal cubic capacity right as well, too much air and there will b no bass or volume(acting like free air) smaller box will give u tighter bass but not as deep. the subs instructions shoudl give yuo an optimum range! and it will also b different for a ported box

Will try... have a good 700-800 pounds worth of ICE planned, saving up now, will see what I will be able to get .

For now the plan is:

Morel Pulse 6 components
Pioneer DEHP 77MP head unit
Helix HXA400 mkII or
Nakamichi PA-2004 amp
Helix W1204 mkII boxed sub

Should be really nice!:] Pricey stuff though..

Not really known in UK... in Russia where I'm getting everything from they're getting amazing reviews.

It's between them and Hertz ESK 165 comps. Both are apparently amazing in their price range!

I used a printed out template for the mdf to make sure the size was ok... probably should have mentioned that earlier! lol
