Hello All - Looking for help
I'm looking for a Mini Cooper 1970 1275/1300 with number plate DAN 3H, it was modified by my family for the 1970 Mexico World Rally but sold a few years later - I'm hoping to buy it back and restore to original rally state.
The car was modified to 4 doors for the rally (Mini World ran an article on it a few years ago), unfortunatly the car (driven by my uncle Jim Conroy) dropped out of the Rally at Portugal).
The 4 doors make it unique to I'm hoping someone know's where it is or seen it
Thanks much
Martin Conroy

Thought I'd repost the info I gave you....
The DVLA say the Logbook and plate DAN 3H are still together,.. so the number plate is still on the car. And it's still registered as a 1275/1300.
However,.. they say although it was built in 1970,.. it wasn't registerd till 1980, The tax ran out in 1984 and was never re-newed! So it aint been in the road in a LONG time.
It's a White Mini,
Cool you mention a Four door conversion! interesting! I know they never produced a factory 4 door so it's good to see a conversion! only seen one before!
Pictures would definatley help thing alon if you can get them scanned in.

Thanks for the info again, certainly gives me hope that the car is around. Would be a great project for us and mean a huge amount to have the car back in the family - I would certainly make sure it would not be sold on again.
Mini World ran a 2 page article on the car and family back in August 1998 so I will try and scan that as well, I have dropped them an email asking for the article on email as it also has a couple of good photo's.
have some more detail on the car
- Specially built roll cage, hand crafted twin fuel tanks (25 gallon capacity), Restall Seats, Halda Navigation Equipment, a triple-heated front windscreen, double skin floor and internally run brake and fuel lines. Electric works carried out by Lucas, interior provided by Wood & Pickett
Engine was a 1275 Cooper S with a twin 1.5inch SU's on a standard gearbox driving 12-inch magnesium alloy minilites. Heavy duty sump guard and bull bars fitted
Family story goes that BMC visited the garage after the rally asking them not to build another 4 door .... I was only born that year so its all stories I'm running from.
Car was last known to be in the Walsall area we think

Tax Exempt should still have a valid tax disc or be SORN'd tax exempt means like free tax disc not no tax disc.

yes i'm quite aware that tax exempt doesn't mean the vehicle doen't have to display a tax disc 'Big man' I'm just trying to figure out why The DVLA say it hasn't been licenced/licenced for tax exemption since 1984, but it was in minimag in 1998, was it on the road in the 90's?...
Surely you know who you sold it to?...
