I don't think there are any breather. That the problem.

Unless I've greatly misunderstood.

anyway in order to install an engine breather above the flywheel you'll have to remove the cover, so any swarf doesn't fall into the engine. only 1275 minis were fitted with 2 breathers, on one the clutch cover and one on the timing gear cover.

the yellow bible says ANY a-series engine "should have" [read"benefit from"] at least two breathers, correct a 998 only has the tappet cover so installing another would improve that but at the same time the one from the tappet cover feeds into the carb as in the picture above which is hardly the most efficient solution so even blanking that one to replace with a breather filter would help the general running of the engine.

As for sourcing the actual mounting plate, im struggling with that one too so let me know if you find anything as i already have the filter, just no the clutch housing didgereedoo
