I have noticed my indicators are fading out.

The flasher unit under the bonnet still makes a noise and they do flash on both sides, however its getting to the point that they are barely visible.

The lights on the dash are also getting fainter (is that a word?).

My hazards went the same way???

anyone?

Headlights are fine, it seems to be very faint/quick for the first couple of flashes and then builds to a brighter (but by no means bright) steady flash??

right, cleaned up all connections and the flashing is much brighter (although still not bright enough, but considering the carp that was on the connections I'm surprised it flashed at all).

when I switch indicating directions it takes a few ticks for the opposite direction to kick in. Is this normal or is my unit on its way out?

Also are the hazard and indicator units 2 different models I.E. are they not interchangable?

Ta, I might just pick up a spare unit on the way into work tomorrow.

If cleaning the connections up a bit brightens it up the I can only assume that slotting on a new one is going to work wonders.

Right O.

Set off the morning and my indicators worked for all of 2 minutes before returning to dim rubbishness.

Nipped out onto the car park at lunch to check the connections and wiring for anything obvious and i got passenger side rear flashing superbright whist both drivers side were dim and the front passenger was non existent.

So I got back in and gave the connections a wiggle, checked they were firm and low and behold I have 4 bright indicators again

I have no hazards at all now however, not even a flicker?????

check your alternator belt is tight, as it may not be charging enough to keep thee lights working at the correct level, whilst your at it check all your earths are good, and if still bad you may either need to invest in a new battery or alternator - both of which for a mini arnt a bad idea

They did work before, its just I got to the point where my indicators kicked in so decided its best not to prod further until I have a bit more time.

The battery and alternator are fine, I have a feeling it was shorting out somewhere so it wasnt delivering the full current.

clean up all connections really well with wire wool including the earth points for the loom. reattach them with some contact lube(cant remember what its called, maplins sell it) or some vasolene. also buy a spare flasher and see if that helps. but it really sounds like it is the connections. had a similar prob with mine and after cleaning all the connections they were good as gold. but remember, just when you think you have cleaned the connections enough therefore they must be good, they need more cleaning because you havent cleaned them enough.
