Only A-series and A+ series engines fit straight in.

Why fit a Vauxhal 8v when the Rover K series was one of the best engines manufactured, and it has 16 valves, Its an all aluminium engine, where as the Vaux is not.

its not my sort of thing anyway

the best engine rover ever built is the M16 derived from the O series.

and it wasn't just the haed gasket, there were others, for instance the cooling system was less than desired using cooling shock therepy, flushing the hot engine with cold water when the thermostat was opened. also the block stiffness wasn't up to scratch. the rover cast crankshafts weren't to be desired either.

sayin all this out of the three myself and my mates have had only two of them 'broke'

You are surely mistaken, The K series is an entirely BL designed and manufactured engine!!

I think you are confused with the Honda engine used in the Rover 600s which in itself was infact a Honda

Why change away from standard A series engines if done right they are just as quick.
