Gonna be re-painting my rear subframe once I have removed all rust from it. Was wondering what is considered to be the best way to paint it. I was thinking along the lines of etch primer then primer then paint, or maybe just hammerite all over it, or then I could get it powder coated. Any ideas/suggestions/opinions welcome

I painted mine with stupidly thick smooth black hammerite, then sprayed it with black waxoyl underseal when fitted up.

Etch primer, red oxide, Then a grey Anti rust primer, Then lots of thin coats of Hammerite.

2 coats red oxide,
2 coats black hammerite
1 coat black hammerite/waxoyl underseal
Subframes cost a bit to replace and take some time to remove and strip down - so do the job right and itll last for years!
Ps i got mine sandblasted before all that - brings it up really nice - plus lets you see any structural problems due to rust!
