i have a "K" reg cooper thats race inspired and i have my fibreglass race dash, only problem being the dash hits the stalks and cannot even get the ignition key in,
so could i remove the indicator stalks to toggle switches on me dash (and they will be labbled)
do this for,
indicators
high beam
windscreen wipers
and also move the ignition key to the dashboard, thus disabling the steering lock,
my question being i have heard rhumors that you need a steering lock for MOT reasons, is this true or can i get away withwhat i want to do
would just make everything so much easier to fitting the dash, and look the cats pajamas

Indicators don't have to self cancel for the MOT.
You might need indicator, horn and flasher/high beam switches in reach of the wheel.
and there might be an issue if they're considered dangerous (sharp) to bump in to
Gonna be a very busy dash if they're all separate switches

Exactly the same as my old mini, you'll probably find he has a battery cut off switch, which is allowed in place of the steering lock. If you don't have a steering lock you'll need another 'immobilising device' like a battery cut off.My mate has got a road legal race mini and he has no steering lock and he has a puch start instead of the usual ignition. His has passed two MOT's with the mod, so that seems to be legal. He's even been stopped by police for a ramdom vehicle inspection (which they do a lot round here) and they said nothing about it.

yeah i had a 1985 mayfair that self canceled untill i put a mountney wheel and boss on!
When you put the mountney boss on, there should two pins that you tap into on the back of the boss. You then position the plastic collar on the steering rack so that the arrow points in the direction of the wiper stalk. When you slide on the boss, make sure the pins slide in the gap in the plastic collar, fit steering wheel and voila, self cancels

My indicator stalks spin freely on the column because the plastic clamp broke!
This happened to anyone else?
Yes, this happened to me as well

Mine cost me £8 from a show.
