A friend and i have just rebuilt a 1275 engine from a 1996 mini sidewalk but we cant get a spark. We put the engine back in the mini connected all of the electrics turned the engine over with the spark plugs removed to pump oil around the engine but we cant get a spark. The distributor is fine, plugs are good and there is 12 volts going to the coil. There is also an immobiliser on the car.
We are struggling at the moment as to what could be wrong so any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks.

Electronic ignition? Module still good? Got the leads going to the module on correct way around? If they are round the wrong way you won't damage the module, it just won't work.

This is an SPi engine, are you using it with the injection system still? Is the ECU plugged into everything it needs to be?

Yes it is an SPi engine which was running fine (apart from big ends and oil pressure!) before the rebuild.
Everything seems to be connected ok and the ECU has been inside so should still be ok.
If its not the ECU anyone know anything about immobiliser circuits for this car?
