Not sure what you mean? Other ways of modifying it without changing the pistons and main internals?

Camshaft, rocker gear, carburation, gearbox, clutch, flywheel, cooling system, ignition system....

I won't go into what you can do for each of them, since whole books have been written on the subjects! Which can also be bought from any decent supplier (or our sponsor Minispares with a 5% discount).

I weep for the deterioration of the English language on these forums, truly I do.

Get yourself a copy of "How to Tune the A Series Engine" that will telly 95% of stuff to do to make a 1275 faster and more powerful.

All depends on what you want the engine for, the type of driving you want to do with it, your budget, how reliable you want it to be?

In my opinion... before you start investing new parts on an already incomplete engine, you should actually get this 'stg3 engine' that you've aqquired running as it is,... and then see what NEEDS doing.

Once you assessed how reliable it is and what you want from the engine, for example,.. maybe you want it to spin up/rev more freely, maybe it needs a better final drive for your use of the car, or perhaps you simply find it to be slow and need more juice.. then you know which direction to go.

Until you REALLY no what the condition of the engine you've got in front of you is like and how it drives... simply adding any larger modifications can result in compounding existing problems or faults.

i've given him the engine.

1275, 1 3/4" su, cam, exhaust, headwork etc. goes like a train. However. . . . !

was rebuilt before i got it and wasn't given new pistons, or rocker gear. has the double valve springs aswell.

think its suffering from 'blowback' and smells of oil, so requires new pistons. also could do with a 'freshen' up.

was given a new cam, vernier timing pulley, had headwork, new oil pump. all this was 2000 miles ago, 2000 extremely hard miles! goes well off the clock, although not sure how acturate that is!

i don't really have any interest in the a-series, so its up to you guys to guide him!!
