Word of warning

My mate has been on the phone tonight, he has w+p arches but they are wider than mine. 2.5" mine are 2" give or take.

They are both Genuine WP. ?????? no idea if they offer two widths or it is just a different supplier.

Check the width when you buy, mine are ok for 5" wheels but his would be too wide and would need 6" rims to look ok.

WnP have done several moulds for their arches; possibly differing in size? All of the same style though. I also dont think that nong enuine ones are of the same size as genuine, are you sure that yours are both gen?

Mine are. W&P didi 'em for me. My wheels are 5.5" wide, 6" probably wouldn't fit, but you won't really know 'til you offer them up...

Toad has genuine W&P arches on the front (wood on the back).... My chrome wheels are 6" and 'just' sit in line with the arches... some people say they stick out a bit too far, but she passed her first MOT with those wheels on!

6 will go legally, because the tread wont be visible from looking directly down from above the tyre.
However, they will stick out slightly from the arch, though not much.

**Bangs head against table**

This has come up a lot recently. Tyres sticking out from the side of your car is NOT on the MOT check sheet. However some MOT testers will frown at you (some might even give an advisory...)

They shouldn't fail your MOT on it.

Mr Plod However, if he wanted, could give you a hefty old wrist slapping if he didn't like the way your wheels sit outside the arches.

So in short,... there's nothing in the MOT about wheels sticking out, But you can get points on your licence for it if Mr copper's doing his job. And that's on each wheel,..

Is this 6" buissness the size across the tread bit? or the top of the tyre to the top of the alloy? sorry idiot here!

Also, will they look weird because Im having chrome bumpers and chrome grill and stuff. Will it look too busy?? might keep the black door handles though haha

6" is the "depth" of the wheel, so yes,

across the tread bit?

is about right.

Also, will they look weird because Im having chrome bumpers and chrome grill and stuff. Will it look too busy?? might keep the black door handles though haha

Have a look at mine & see if you think it looks busy - I have chrome grille, bumpers, overiders, corner bars & the four spots. She did have headlamp peaks too, but that was a bit too much shiney..... :!:

They're not W&P arches, but the over all effect of blue with black and chrome is nice isn't it..... Just need to save up for a roof respray for the whole look :!:

Retro - Sy's best mate is a Bobby and he said my 6's are fine with those arches, I guess it all depends on the PC, what mood he's in and whether or not he likes you/your car in the first place!
