Bit stumped on this one. Need the rear view mirror for the MOT, but don't have anywhere to fix it too, since the shell is fibreglass, and has no seams. I tried impact adhesive to glue a bit of wood to the roof, and then screw into this, but that didn't work!

Any ideas?! :!:

Halfords do a mirror "re stick" kit, which contains some uber sticky pads for the rear view mirror, and I'd be tempted to just stick it to the standard place on the windscreen.

That, or get one of the suction type mirrors that halfords sell, that driving instructors use, probably the best way for you :!:

try fibreglassing a piece of wood to the roof, i know we did this on a speedboat we had and it worked a treat, you need to fibreglass the ends over and leave the centre exposed to screw into

Do a heath robinson, whack a m-8 caphead through the top of the roof into the cabin, and screw the mirror to that :!:

EDIT: Not a frigging 'Mate' caphead

*bloody filter* :dontgetit:

Those suction base mirrors look nice. They're all short so they would be position(able) where you want/need on a Mini.

I was going to suggest visiting a parts store for a generic rear-view mirror and the metal button that gets bonded to the inside of the windshield. I'm sure you've seen these used on other late model cars. The problem I see with that on the Mini is the generic mirrors have a double ball-jointed stem to attach to the metal cleat. That stem is so long it doesn't allow the mirror to be positioned nicely in a Mini.

I like the idea of those suction base mirrors.

I don't think you need an interior mirror if you've got 2 exterior ones.

Wood / plaggy 'n fibre glassing over is good half my car is fasrened together like that

The suction type mirrors such as in the eBay links above are normally available from your local Hellfords - may be a bit quicker if you need to get the Minus MOT'd sooner rather than later - had to get one in an 'emergency' when my Dad broke the screen in an MPi 4 hours before leaving on The Italian Job as although we had a spare screen it didn't have the bonded on mirror boss.
