If your 998 is also auto it should go in without any problems, but the auto is wider at the mounting points than the manual, so the auto engine won't fit in a manual subframe.

I think you also need weird mounts to put a man engine into an auto sub frame. Although Jayare sort said that. :P

Yep will nearly go straight in... You'll need to chop the 'metro' mount off the torque convertor housing, and attach your engine mount to it ( or swap the one off yours with the one on the metro )

You will also find the 1275 metro has a different gear configuration to the 998, ie it has a PARK. so you'll need the selector mechanism for the 1275 auto aswell.

Finally the start inhibitor is in a different place, and is located on the front of the gearbox (1275) instead of in the selector mechanism (998)

And then you have the normal differences between a metro 1275 and Mini.. ie raditor mountings etc

Well went to have a look and judging by the massive oil leak coming from the head and around the starter, i think ill leave well alone, ive said ill take the brakes or something, cant remember what i said now...lol
Anyway didnt you say you might get a 1275 auto possibly, if this is still on the cards let me know as im still looking
cheers KC

At the moment, I only have the one which is spoken for... I'm on the scalp for auto's all the time, even buying whole cars ripping the auto's out, converting to manual and selling on.. this is potentially the only way I'm going to get a large enough sample of boxes to start reconditioning them.. better to start with working ones that bust ones.
