I'm actually not sure, but I think I read somewhere that the IDAs are kinda race-designed. They work better on full throttle than the IDF. The IDF would probably therefore be better for road use?

I get totally mixed up with the different types of Weber, I know there are different types for inline engines and transverse engines (like a mini), but I'm not sure if that's the difference between the IDF and IDA too?

all i know is that they are both 48's, and the IDA's are very expnsive while the IDF's aren't

found out that IDA's are no longer in production thats y they are expensive.

im sorted now

IDA's are racing carbs, that work best with full throttle. they makle rubbish road carbs. the IDF's replaced them and are much better.

but IDF's wont fit on a IDA Manifold :)

where could you get a manifold made up?

YAAY! Go me!

Maniflow would be good I reckon. Plus, I still think you need to check if IDFs are suited for transverse mount, there's still something niggling me about that bit. Oh, ermmm, it's gonna stick out yer bonnet too I think! :(

Keep cranking til they go! Keep your foot down on the accelerator slightly helps. But the 45 DCOE I had without choke went through about 4 starters in winter!
