Very simple question but as I haven't used one of the above before can somebody please enlighten me.

Simply in the open position the hole through the valve is fully open but when I shut the valve there is still a small area left open. I sthis correct ie the valve wont fully close?

cheers

It should do, sometimes you need to play with where you lock the cable outer down until it will fully close and open due to there being some lash in the mechanism.

Cheers Dan

This is off the car at the moment so no cable attached and wont fully shut by moving the lever by hand

Bend the stop out a bit, just enough not too much.

Sorry, talking about the wrong valve there...

Errm, they're a bit tight when new. I might free up if you work it a bit. Or you can file the hole the rod pokes through to let it move further or bend the hook on the valve rod a little so the cable lever moves it further.

Its not the stop. If you take the plastic valve body off the metal plate / lever mech it still wont close fully

Think it may be gunked up internally will try flushing it and see what happens

Just to post an answer for any future ref'

Very simple, hot water and movement of the arm loosened the build up internally and it now fully opens and closes
