I'm gonna make a one off dash, but I'm not sure wether to make it from steel or ally tho?
I'm gonna remove all the switches and have them in a panel near the handbreak and put the ignition barrel down there too so I can get rid of the cloum shroud and replace it with some padding.
So what do you recon - ally or steel??

Bluemini,
I'd go for ally myself.
Ally Pros:
-Lighter than steel.
-Easy to work (bend cut drill file etc)
-Won't rust.
Ally Cons:
-Might be easier to scuff and mark than steel.
Steel Pros:
-V. strong
-More durable than ally
Steel Cons:
-Heavier than ally
-Harder to cut and shape than ally.
-Will corrode
Evert seen inside a custom race car? If its not carbon fibre it'l have beautiful Ally brackets and dash panels with lightening holes.
If its going to be structural then I'd go for steel but if its cosmetic - aluminium.

I aint got photo shop
The weight issue aint a problem, I got some serious cuttin to do to the rest of the car to reduce weight, and the dash will be sprayed the same colour as the rest of the inside of the car too...
