Hi,

Can anyone recommend the best type of CB radio to buy for Minis and if they know someone who can supply one for the best price?

Is there a decent one that allows for listening in on trucker conversations re traffic jams, police activity etc, if such conversations actually occur still?

Are second hand ones worth a look at?

(Is there also one that will avoid all the dramas Charlie Brown had some months ago with setting it up and tuning it etc?)

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any comments on the new Cobra 75UKST Palm Sized Remote Mount CB Radio?

It looks like the perfect size for a mini and the fact it can be locked away is an added boost.

Any ideas on who might be able to better RadioWorld's price of £149.95?

The Cobra 75 is a great radio and as you say is great for hiding away.
Other good CBs are the Maycom EM-27 and Team Roadcom. The Cobra 25 and 29 are very good but sadly very big!
The roadcom is designed to fit into a standard DIN socket so will look good. A range of brackets can now be bought which enable CBs to fit into the DIN socket too.

I've got a Midland 77-089. It works great, is small enough to fit between the column and fog switch panel and cost £20 off eBay.

Is there a decent one that allows for listening in on trucker conversations re traffic jams, police activity etc, if such conversations actually occur still?

Yep, you just need to know who is transmitting on which channel (not the coppers tho)

Are second hand ones worth a look at?

Definitely

You'll need to get it SWR'd. Ask someone local nicely, or else get a meter for about £20 and do it yourself :withstupid:

Hope that helps, (try a forum search for more details or this thread Click Me)
