argh, i'll appologise now if this offends any one but i am seriously  off with my car! how come something simple like fittin a walnut dash panel turns into having the engine out? just slotting the speedo cable back into place and the little *Female doggy* snaps!

next time, some one please stop me when i say i want a mini again!

You don't have to take the engine out, I just said it's easier with the engine out.

Another thought, but which bit has broken, the outer or inner.... if it's the inner it may be possible to just withdraw that and take the inner from another ( or new ) cable of the same length and re-thread it back through... never tried it but may be possible.

Oh well stuff like that is supposed to happen, it's an english car. If you want to drive a car that doesn't break stuff, buy a jap. Buy an dull boring pos. I'll always rather drive an breaking english or american car than a boring jap.
