Hi,
tracked down the pesky rattle, to the track rod end bracket on the dust shield, whats the thoughts leave the dust shields off or fit new? Most modern cars don't have them as part of cost down and unsprung weight saving.Your thoughts guys. >_<

Just get rid of it, more hassle than it's worth. Mine has snapped but I'm too lazy to take it off so I just stuffed some plastic polysyrine in the gap to stop it from rattling.

Hi,
I've done the one side and will prob take off the n/s can't see the point of them any more as you can't give the disc a quick check on the inside, with them on.

Up to you but you might as well leave the other one on, if it aint broke don't fix it. Unless you want to make sure you Mini have equal weight distribution! >_<

Might as well take it off so it looks the same, due for a 3 monthly grease up anyway and oil and filter.

don't leave just one on.

The one with the shield still on will heat up MUCH quicker and you will have uneven braking (especillay when you brake hard and really need your brakes in an emergency!)

Hi both off now still have EBC pads in and I don't think they are the best, might try Mintex next as the back can still be made to lock up first. Adjusted them up and tried them on the brake rollers and was suprised at the good reading, but want to do an Auto test end of the month and want the back end lose, so might knock up a 3 way adapter for the back with a 1.5 /1.75mm restrictor in to stop it and push the performance up on the front. Might try it with brake clamps first on the back. :w00t:

no it was the little bracket to the track rod end snapped off like the do after time, just can't be bothered to pay and refit the a new one and have it break again, but I might have to wait another 22 years. :w00t:
