evening chaps and chappesses. Time to let you all know what im doing in my spare time (or will be) now the nights are getting cold and wet

I've become the owner a 72 clubby, in need of a bit of tlc!

I havent had too much of a poke at it yet but it needs so far

New sills

New ns a panel (probably do both)
possible os floor panel. Has had a few dodgy plates in the past and looks a bit poor.
Repairs to the front panel.
repairs to inner wings near sills

The engines a knackered 998 auto. I started taking this out today, it will be replaced with a 998
for now until hopefully it ends up with one of ed4rans bombay mix suzuki engines

Plan is to keep it on 10s, with disc brakes of some kind.

Plans for the interior are rather special

Its going to painted a retro pastelly colour although not sure what yet, possibly green and white. a be Anythings gotta be better than baby poo yellow :dontgetit:

heres what i did today

took the paper weight out the front. Gonna keep the hardy spicers

[gutted the interior, all put away safely.

Posted Image

emptied the bay, took the loom out.

Posted Image

this is the dodgiest bit of the car, debating whether to put new metal in or spunk out £75 on a front panel. Probably spend 3 days doing a nice plate as im a stubborn git

End result, certainly easier to move about now, i just pick the back end up

yes you can fit a F/G front and retain the Inner wings, though whether you would then need to run brace bars through them or around them i'm not sure.

but it can be done.

Ok heres a quick update,

Picked up the starmags and they are absolutely mint! Couldnt believe how good they were!

Posted Image

They look very good on the car, they dont stick out too much, just gotta check if they'll clear the fiesta set up then its a go go.

also picked up a 1275 engine i got off here, had the head off and it seems in pretty good nick. Will clean it up and drop it straight in when the restos done.

Needs an a panel on the n/s and a pair of sills. Plus that bit on the front panel and thats it.

mmm.. Vynal roof?? I know your good at that sort of thing, but just bear in mind I'm soon to experience replacing a roof skin because of a badly fitted vynal roof.

That said, they probably went on strike half way through fitting mine and then just didn't bother finishing it :P

Have you done much to it rescently??

Nah, it will be fine :dontgetit:

I wont 'down tools' umpteen times whilst fitting mine :teehee:

well, i probably will, but only to drink a mug of tea or two. Plus it will be properly waterproofed after fitting using the same stuff they do the tents in.

Besides, blue vinyl roof against white paint? yum :P

Yesterday was the first time i'd worked on the car since the last update. I have invested so much time in Retro Retrims (literally all i have done dawn till dusk since july) the car hasnt seen my hammer wielding skills as much as i'd like to,something that has got to be resolved, especially if i want this thing done for riv run :ermm:

I did take lots of pics but cant find my bloomin upload cable. grrr

Anyway, managed to find some time on sunday to get a little progress done on the little cretin.

Thought i'd deal with the nasty tin of worms that is the back end :errr:

Sooo after an hour the rear subby was off. The heelboard bolts came undone like they'd been lathered in copper grease all their life and the heelboard is as solid as a railway sleeper. Result. :w00t:

The boot floor is completely solid too. God bless the golden oldie who had this car.

He is now sitting in the barn with his arse end up in the air. Next sunday the beasty will have the front subby removed (I got a manual replacement off Herman so this one will get cut up and modified for a 16v) and the welding on the sills will begin.

Felt nice getting all diirty again, was suffering from withdrawal

i'm thinking of going centre binnacle, reckon that would look odd in a clubby?
