As I finally got around to getting the rebuilt gearbox put in... I was wondering what the 2.95:1 Final drive means?

I means for every revolution your road wheels turn the engine will have done 2.95 turns in 4th gear.

Not necessarily a higher top speed - it's more than likely that wind resistance will get the better you before you run out of usable revs.
On the road, acceleration may not be as clear cut either depending on how the engine's power band relates to your road speed and gear change points.

I had a thought about dropping to 10's but was thinking the economics of purchasing new brakes and taking off the sportspack arches and replacing them... seems like it'll cost a bit!
