fitted a full set of GAZ std height adjustable dampers today to replace my 21 year old originals! the originals even had the year '86 stamped on them!
the result... an instant improvement in ride quality/comfort and a marked improvement in handling with all four corners on the softest setting!

what i'd like to know from the collective genius that is the forum is....

when i start winding them up a bit should one end of the car be biased, for example harder on the rears than the fronts, vice versa or all equal? obviously suspension set up is of personal preference i'm merely curious as to what handling characteristics, benefits or detriments can be obtained by playing with the said bias?

thanks in advance chaps! :D

I have mine adjusted 12 clicks all round. Seems to handle fine, I've not played around with it at all. I'd also like to know what people suggest.

I have mine set slighlty softer on the rears to stop the back end "skipping" out on bumpy tight corners, with the fronts a few clicks firmer to compensate the weight of the engine.

17 clicks on the front,
13 clicks on the back...

Running standard 145/70x10 Steel wheels. But might soften the rears a bit more, as I am getting skipping...

I've got no weight in the back due to it being a Van
Before adding 1.5* Negative camber, I got use to the backend going out....

12 clicks all round and no complaints. Although it's a pickup I'm usually carrying a bit of weight in the back. Might start experimenting just to see what happens  .

After lots of different selections, I settled on 13 at the front and 6 at the rear...

Set them to half way through the settings. Then by driving around you can decide whether they need to be softer or harder...

i got spax set to 13 on the front and 6 on the back. hard enough for a good thrashing on country lanes and trackdays, but soft enough for daily driving.

i've been playing around with mine just taking it up slowly, 5 on the front and 3 on the rears is solid but not harsh. essential for the daily commute!
