Hey guys,
got a '86 Mayfair - not lowered. I'm looking to put some arches onto it. I've had a look around and havnt decided yet, although I need to make a decision soon!
My mini is standard, with 10" wheels.

My first question is:
What mods do I need to make in order to fit larger wheels (as in 12", and wider) and make the car run smoothly? (do i need to mod the brakes driveshafts etc? or buy spacers?)

What arches do you recommend for an unmodded car? (and what is a good wheel combination for these?)

Sorry to be such a hassle. I took the mini on as a project (thinking I had some time to finish it!) but been offered an amazing opportunity in Australia so have to get a move on ASAP and dont have as much time to do the research! (the car is still sitting in as many bits, about to move onto the wiring loom :) )

unless it's been converted.

So now, do you want bigger than 12, or just wider?

I've heard from others that you DO need to slightly modify the front edge of the arch for anything larger than 5X12 (but if anyone has installed larger rims in an un-modded arch, please chime in).

Some people I've talked to have fit 5.5" wheels and only had them foul at full (or near-full) lock, but from what I've heard 6" rims will certainly rub. Luckily, the modification seems really straightforward and can be done relatively easy, and the wheel arch piece covers the resulting modification...

With 5x12s would the normal group 2s (as in Mrs Bungle's gorgeous mini) be ok?

These?

Am I likely to need the rubber seal mentioned? Or are they ok without?

the rubber seal just tidies up the visible bit where the arch meets the car, like on sportspack arches. (if that helps?)

Oh right so ok without, just might look neater with. I think I might just get the arches and I can buy the rubber at a later date if I think it needs tidying up then >_< thanks redhot >_<
