Hello,
I am looking at buying a heated front windscreen for my mini minus, but I am not sure what mark window my mini minus has? and if it matters?

I was assuming they were all the same until I went on www.heatedwindscreen.com, because they have listed rover mini, and austin morris mini mk1 and mk2 as three different items.
Will any mark windscreen fit any car?

Hope someone can shed some light,
Cheers Ali

This site sell em listed as for 'all models'
and are £135 including VAT and delivery. That's the cheapest I've found.

All mini windscreens are the same size. The only difference is colour and whether it has a mirror boss pre-glued to it.

Montecarlo style screens are pretty much just heated screens with a certain type of element layout. That's what they were first fitted to Mini's for (as in the rally).

Any screen listed as '96 onwards, I don't know if there's a heated version available though.

If you can't find a heated screen with a mirror boss then go to your local windscreen company and get them to glue one on. Most windscreen fitters will have a selection of spare mirror bosses kicking around in their tool box(I know I do  ).

if you glue a mirror boss onto a heated windscreen over the element , would the heat affect the glue?.......i'd imagine a heated screen listed for a post '96 car would have a bit of a gap in the element for the mirror mount.

I've been thinking Al, what exactly is a minus? I seem to remember that it's a GRP copy of a Mini Sprint shell isn't it? I might be wrong about that 'because I'm not sure exactly what they are, but if it is then sadly no normal windscreen will fit. The Mini Sprint had 2 5/8" chopped out of the body and another 1 5/8" or so removed from the height of the glass area all around, so the screen is smaller than normal.

Nearly right mate,
A Firm called Stewart & Arden made the original mini sprints (which has the roof chop), and a firm called Hawk cars made the moulds and fibreglass shells from a Stewart & Arden metal original, they called it the 'Hawk Mini sprint'. A Mini Minus is a whole other kettle of fish:

Minus Cars LTD removed about 4 inches from a mini shell, but all below the windows and so managed to retain the standard size windows, and everthing else for that matter. Then made a mould and produced fibreglass shells from it.

I just wondered if there was a difference in window sizes through-out the different standard marks of mini's... and if so, which one the minus used, as they were built in the seventies so could be mark 1 or 2.

Minus Cars also did a mid engine rear wheel drive version. I'd really like to get hold of one of them. I want to adapt one for a cossie 4x4 set up

whatabout rally sport replicas, they sell the shells surely they could find you some glass, or maybe it might be the sprint size they can provide the glass for.....
