Exhaust Glowing Cherry Red After 2-3 Mins Of Runin!

hey
i started up mi mini after getttin the head done and putting the engine bk in, i ran it onli for a couple of minutes but the single, centre exhaust off the manifold glowed red so fast, but the other 2 didnt.

is there ne reason its doing this? or is this the norm?

Check your battery and earth straps. It sounds very much like the battery strap has been touching the exhaust, has melted the outer sheath and the engine is now earthing itself through the exhaust system.

Could be an exhaust valve thing check your tappets 'n get the compression tester out if you can lay your hands on one.

Good Lord , what has he got as a battery ? If the earth was glowing red hot , then wouldn't the positive feed as well ?

I would tend to look at extremely retarded timing , plug leads swapped or exhaust valves hanging open.

Check the static timing but it sounds like a way lean fuel/air mix to me.

Yes either very lean or very retarded timing.

Is it better if you pull out the choke giving you a richer mixture?
