all i really want to know is has anyone else done a whole car before with good results.

Yep, Rattle cans can give ver good results. Use the search function and you'll fins lots on there. One guy that i particuarly remember was a user called xXchickyXx or something. He Rattled His white mini Black and results were very good in my opinion.

In fact i'll do the legwork for you,.. Here's the thread:

and here's some pics of his progress etc... painting black over white with rattle cans:

he made a balls up of the bonnet and had to re-do it hance the matt finish lol.. but the rest, spot on in my opinion, nice deep gloss too,.. remember to get plenty of coats on from rattle cans. don't buy from halfords they have more propellant than paint. check out the shine on the wings!

i sprayed Belindas roof white and it came out really good. i also sprayed part of my van and you cant tell the difference. i am thinking of doing the lot too. just remeber that prep is the most important part of doing the spraying. if anything dont feel right, then get it right. blemishes will show. also if you are using filler, let it go off for 24 hours otherwise it will show the edge of the filler where it changes to bodywork :-

Go to you local Auto paint shop for paint or ask a garage if they no where the nearest one is. Just google 'Paint shop' along with your hometown name. :-

I have just used cans on mine and got the correct colour match off the shelf at Halfords. Here are some before and after pics to show the result.

A whole car? I'd be working out cost.

Spray round here cost about £3-5 a can.

Probably still cheaper than hiring a compressor and spray gun.

I've got a compressor plus a couple of spray guns, but the paint alone 2 litre of paint plus a litre of thinners which is enough with a bit left over to spray a mini that came to £55.

I paid £5.49 for a 300ml can from Halford and would say I used about 500ml on the front end alone so in my estimation thats about 5 litres for the whole car which works out at about £90. Dont forget to add the cost of primer, filler, sandpaper and wet and dry also.

eh? you only used 500ml/about 1 and half cans on that front?... that's no where near enough to get the correct paint thickness if so. But i must say, looks spiffing old chap! :-

I only did the front of the wings around the lights, slam panel and behind the grill. The rest of the wings are fine aprt from where they meet the 'A' panels which are the next areas to attack.

Buy paint from a paint shop as suggested.

I know I can get paint rattle cans, 600ml for about £1.29 each through the trade. so worth shopping round.
