heyyy, im restoring a 79 mini 1000, ive been wiggin out about what colours to paint it. i want it to be different and look good aswell. SO the colour scheme that i am on right now is a 2 tone look. i would like it to be Satin black up to the line right below the windows then Red above that. i've been able to find pics of cars with a 2tone colour scheme from the rear of the car, but i would like to see what it looks like from the frontish. SO does anyone have pics of 2tone minis?? preferably all different angles.

THANKS

Unique? Surely everyone's doing the pearlescent colours now? The two tone sounds more retro, which means it'll have been done plenty before, just not recently. I think it could look quite nice, if done well...

thanks for the responses. see, pearlesent looks awsome BUT its not really the look im going for. I like the retro modified look. i could settle for just a red roof, but i think it would be pretty cool to have the two tone look just to be a little different. the only area of the car i cant picture with the 2tone is the front half. i dont know, it would be a bit of a gamble.

thanks! yeah, i think i would do like a very low gloss (satin) black, with a shiny darker red and a silver pinstripe to separate. i saw a VW golf like this yesterday, it looked pretty good.

im going to give this a bump. im taking my car in for paint soon and im riding the fence over painting JUST the roof red and leaving the rest matt black, OR doing the 2tone. it could really go either way. any more opinions/pictures??

those minis look amazing! but see, i like the black roof alot, but one issue is matt black/any black absorbs sun, and its going to be my summer car, and toronto summers get pretty hot. I heard stories of black minis getting hot. thats my only concern. i dont know, i think black upper, red lower, and black flares would look awsome, but just SO hot. i think if red were done well on top it would look pretty good. ALso, its going to be pretty stock wheel/suspension wise for a little while until i can afford upgrades, so i dont know how that will look.
