Hey guys. Havn't posted in a while.... been pretty busy with you know..... life
Anyways. I'm sick and tired of my drums. I have a 1275 with at least 65bhp and the drums just aren't cutting it
So i want to get 7.5" Disks
Here a complete conversion kit is a good deal at under $1200 (US)
Can Someone here beat that with shipping to Orange County.... 92675?
its less of how well they work and more of what a damn pain they are to keep working.... I have no idea how British Engineers ever had any hope of making those adjusters not move... one just keeps moving and its annoying. And I ate through a set of shoes on the front in like 3000 miles. And I wasn't braking hard or anything. But don't worry I am still thinking of way of making the adjusters not move and getting brake material sprayed on the shoes by a company so they can make it extra thick..... because honestly.... 1000 bucks can go to more useful upgrades... like a 1380....... with Drums
Thanks, Long time no see
Upgrading to 7.5 Disks

Good to see you back.
You should be able to pick up an S brake setup in the UK for about £250
Shipping to the states via DHL 1-2 day, for a parcel 60cmx30cmx30cm @ 20kg pans out at £144.21
Cheaper shipping options are probably available.
If you find a set advertised in limeyland and need any help, I'd be happy to play the third party.

Jeff
If you get a set of 8.4s you can fit S discs hubs and calipers.
Would that be a cheaper option?
I will be in LA in a coupls of weeks, but don't think my luggage allowance will cover a set

What Siggy's saying is that over here it is a cheaper way of geting the 7.5" setup to get the CV'c, uprights, hoses and other sundries from an 8.4" setup since these are much more readily available and cheaper. Then you just need the flanges, discs and callipers from an S. Some of the 8.4" uprights don't allow S flanges and discs to fit but it usually works out.
But I suppose that over there 8.4" discs are even more rare than 7.5" setups are.

the 8.4's are little cheaper over here.... but not enough to justify all the work needed to use them. If I had 8.4's already then it would be damn worth it.... but i got drums.

Dan as far as I can tell its only original S disc's that will not fit on 8.4 hubs. I have changed them about 10 times now with no problems.
Jeff remember that you need the larger, DISC BRAKE OUTER cv JOINTS.

i have just fitted some s dics to 8.4 hubs and there are a few minor differences
1) the is a flat on the hub on the s is not there on 8.4 hubs so hade to grind back
a few mm as the calipar would not sit back enough to allow both bolts to line up
2) the sterring arms stick out slightly more and where catching the disc so had to remove a few mm to get clearance other than that every thing went straight on
i bought these for £80 the hubs are solid with rust so used the drive flange and new discs £20 each with new studs
the calipars where already recoditioned with s/s pistons and new seals
so cost me £120 as already had some 8.4 hubs and cv lying around
now fitted to a friends mini on 10" wheels for that period look

Hi Guys,
Sorry to hijack your thread Jeffberg, but where in the UK sells the whole 7.5" set up, and any ideas on cost? We have two Minis's that the power of braking versus engine power in getting a little ridulous on!!!
And, I don't really want to lose my 10" wheels.
Any help greatly received!
Cheers
