ive taken the advice of a good forum member and decided to use hammerite rad paint. ive discovered the best colour match possible and looks ideal.
however is this really suitable to paint the block or not, the sales guy says its good for around 100 degrees.
any advice?

Can't see the outside of an engine topping 100 c

The main area of concern would be radiated heat of the exhaust & how well it copes with oil, petrol etc.

Paint a test patch
