just an update for those of you wanting to know how we are getting on with the race series there are now 13 confirmed entrants for the z cars series in 2008
one v tec monte
2 v tec steel shelled cars and the other 10 are all bike engined cars
these are cars already built or well on their way not counting those we sold last week, the curborough event went very well and has helped several customers make the decision to have a go, im hoping we can get another 10 before the season starts then its a definate rock and roll next year, i can not wait

Hi Tommy
Might need a few pointers soon. After ringing Chris I've got a kit on order but no spare time, not enough cash, no race licence, no engine, no tow car, no trailer, no experience and probably no talent but I've booked my place on the Cadwell Trackday on February 24! That's 15 weeks! :withstupid:

I can't believe I can do it but I like a challenge! Where do you start?

Chris

HAHAHAHAH! Crossed Thread, that sounds like the sort of thing I would do, although I would stop short of the racing..

Hi, except for the tow car and the engine which i have, i'm the same as you. Ive never raced before and i work every hour that i'm awake, literally! Still it pays for the build. I'm gonna do my 'ards' course in the new year. Hopefully between xmas and new year as i won't have to work then. I don't know if i've got talent but i'm an optimistic person and a challenge is good. My car is by no means ready either but will be by Cadwell time. Good luck to you.

So When will the race dates be confirmed for 2008?
What are the confirmed Restrictions / rules to qualify for the z cars championship or are you just scoring points in the north western sports & saloons?
Who will be policing the engine units for eligibility as there is bound to be modified engines sneaking in somewhere.
My only thought is to have the same map on everyones power commander so this will limit any mods being done to the engines.
Ie 1 map for busa and 1 for R1 etc. This can be checked and rectified at the track??

we are part sponsoring the championship next year
Nw Barc will administer the racing in with their existing championship we will run in their class C with the bike engined cars and class B with honda engined cars however they will keep each drivers points for a Z cars class within their series so you are battling for Z cars championship points/ trophys you are also eligible for class C honours in the general racing if you are quick enough so its a win win situation at present
we have our own sub rules regarding minimum weights tyre eligibility etc etc which will be available at the NEC autosports show in january when its officially announced
we are fitting a rolling road early next year and the plan is to dyno all cars in the series to A get the best power from them and B if theres an allegation of cheating we will download the map from the suspected car and then dyno it at a mutual conveniant date back at Z cars all engines will be sealed and anyone with excessive bhp will be penalised
basically the late R1 and tha hyabusas all give around 155 bhp at the wheels maximum in std trim any more and theres something funny going on
if anybodys not happy with my car then they can download the map into their own computer at the track and be present at the dyno session subsequantly
does that cover your thoughts on it mark?

Have you got the complete set of control regulations finalised yet covering shockers, brakes, exhausts, wheelbase, wheel width etc
I know tyres are going to be michelin slicks or wets and minimum weight being 670kgs inc driver.

Cheers

Is the weight right? seems quite alot.

My car is 540kg and I'm 105kg 16stone..so 645kg all in. I'm sure there are alot of people lighter than me and some cars as well.

Will these people have to add some sort of ballast?

Regards

Hilty

Is that with full fuel load, fire ext,big slicks on 8" rims helmet, race suit,if so then you will be adding some lead,im sure some light drivers will have to add more.(you could take the mother in law with you as a passenger). I think the weight is fair for this year as its cheaper to add weight rather than loose weight which for some could be more expensive??.
This is just my opinion and im sure chris will be putting some basic rules in place for the 2008 season.
good luck
Rob
