i am getting a bit fidgety about the spacing on 998cc bores and the k100 head i have just bought but no yet received.

Anyone know the bore spacing of a 998cc? and/or the spacing of the chambers on a k100rt head?

OR better still can someone do a pic of a k100 head with a 998cc gasket laid over the top.

I was reliably informed that a 998 will work ok with this conversion but i am getting concerned.

surely if it works on an 850cc engine then it will on my 998(possible massive ignorance of the 850 engine showing there)???????????????

HELP set my mind at rest pleeeeaaasssseeeeee

You could PM STIG and ask him to show you a piccy of a K100 head with a 998 gasket laid over the top of the chambers?

Matt, don't worry, it'll be fine!

This link may help you. Im not sure which each colour represents though!

to be honest for the hassel of making it fit a 998 block, you'd be better off doing a short stroke 1275 if your wanting to keep the cc's down? Would be nice and revy too.

This is a 998 spacing. You can see the is a massive gap between cylinder 2 and 3 compared to the 1275 block and 850.

This is an 850 block with a K gasket on.

i am not desperate to keep the small bore it is just taht that is all i have and it is haerd for me to get a cheap 1275 here.

so 998 it is as long as i can get it to work. maybe i should try and find an 850 engine?

Excuse my ignorance but if you can pocket a 998 to take a 1275 head then why cant you do the same for the k100/k1100 head

it does look a bit OTT but mine is defo simlar maybe not as big a gap on the centre 2 bores but then that one is nice and clean and freshly built and mine is covered in C**p.
