Hi everyone,

My driver's seatbelt has jammed and I can't get it to unravel more than a couple of inches (and this is after minutes of tugging). I have a spare set of seatbelts to fit but they are at my mum's place which is not local and I would really like to be able to drive my car tomorrow. Does anyone have any quick tips for fixing the jam in the meantime?

I'd really appreciate any advice you can offer! Thanks,

Katie

Yeah it's on level ground, and the reel is solid in its mounts. There doesn't appear to be anything stuck in the reel either!

(General Question:... Are the passenger and driver seatbelts different? If not, you could swap the two over )

i had the same trouble with my old Fiesta - i had to carry a knitting needle with me wherever i went, so that i could stab the reel when it got jammed!

Chuck Berry had this problem with his girlfriend's safety belt but the song ended before he fixed it.

a special skill :dontgetit:

to be honest, i don't even know how we decided to use the knitting needle!! But it would get caught up (within the car's interior trim) - and so i just stabbed it until it freed, lol :dontgetit:

AAaaaaannyway - back to your problem! :ermm:

Don't try that!

I love my mini, don't get me wrong... but the odd thump or poke often seems to work when things have gone wrong!! haha.

Chuck Berry, where are you when I need you??
