OK

I checked the pinned topic but as Im a bit s....l.....o.....w it dosn't seem crystal clear. I would like to get hold of a fault code reader, (as Im sure most of us would). Which one is the best to get for a early '96 SPi...... ie none odb2. Im gussing that the testbook is 1 expensive and 2 unobtainable now....so what package reads the MEMs system and resets the error codes... maybe something I can pick up off the Ebay site?. Thanks

That ebay link didnt seem to work for me... I will keep searching for one..... Is the Crypton ACT the only inexpensive code reader worth looking at?

Where is the Rover MEMs cable???

Correct you will also need the SPi specific cable. I don't have the number at the moment, but they also turn up on eBay.
Information froms Sykes Pickavant brocure

Make: Rover/Mg
Model: Mini
Variant: 1.3
Fuel Type: P
Engine CC: 1.3
Engine Code: 12A2DF
Year: 91-96
ECU Details: Mems
Pod Number: 30353200
On MAP CD?: Yes
Cable 1: 30211600
Cable 2: |
16PIN Cable: |
ISO Compatible?: No

So the cable number is 30211600 for SPi

Just as a reference here are links to the items for the SP ACR4

SP ACR 4 Code Reader
SP Rover Version 4 Pod
SPi Harness
MPi Harness

I know nothing about the sales company as I am on the other side of the pond, but I thought the SP product numbers might be useful. Older pods and harnesses will also work with SPi and MPi, but these are the current versions supported by SP.

I have the acr4 gear, have found that the rover4 pod doesnt seem as relaible as the rover 3 pod on the minis..

also the 30212400 lead is more relaible on MPi minis than the 30214000 lead.

ttfn,
Dave

Dave:
Does the Rover 4 pod add anything for the Mini?
I have seen some talk of security/immoboliser control, but I believe that is for other Rover cars. It seems they have the new I-Keys system that is supposed to handle security/immobilser, but it is very expensive to upgrade.

Omitec instrumentation supplied a lot of the original dealer equipment to Rover. The Omitec Autocheck (also known as Rover Microcheck) was the predecessor to the Omiscan fault code reader they now distribute so their software for Rover is top notch. The Autocheck units turn up on ebay from time to time but the security programming cards for Rover are quite difficult to come by though.

Yes fair enough, but its not exactly in the relms of personal ownership just for the mini.

You cant beat the price of the Crypton ACT for the SPi or the Sykes ACR for both spi and MPi

Hey chaps.. I hate bringing an old thread back to life, but does anyone:
1. Have a Crypton ACT "ASA003" (The Rover cable) - could possibly be labeled "ATA003" on the cord, or
2. Wiring for the connector, so I can make my own? :P

Thanks guys!
Mike.
