Hi, i own a mini cooper, the heating controls no longer light up?? everything else lights up ok, but the haynes manual states that no provision is made for the renewal of these LEDs.

don't like to send you away but most of the members and knowledge is for classic minis and not BMW's

your welcome to be here but might not find the answers you need

are you handy with a screwdriver??

i don't know the specifics with bmw minis. but i do have some knowledge of other cars wiring and electrics.

particularly vw golfs, a common problem is that the heater control ambient lighting used to just go out, and more often than not the dash lights would go too.
there's a connector on the back of the unit and it didn't always sit properly, this then caused it to spark and kill the fuse for the dash lighting.

if i was you and it is a recent thing.. I'd either take it to the garage or if you don't have warranty on it any more.. take the fascia off and see if there's anything obvious which looks adrift. i.e dangling wires, smell of burned components and big black charred circuits. If nothing looks obvious then either get a car electrition to have a look or book it in for bmw to have a look. :D

led's rarely die because of old age, and as yours is a bmw mini i highly doubt they are that old.
as i said its more likely to be something obvious.

Hi, i work at the mini plant in oxford, what year is your mini, i.e R50 or R56. I would agree with matt and take the heater control out of the facia and check the wiring and the fuse. Let me know what year it is and i can tell you how to take the unit apart
