Hi, anyone know if a Rover Metro Gta engine will fit in a mini? And problems I could have.

I'm wanting to change my engine and just considering different options.

Cheers,
Craig.

Yes it will fit, but not without a lot of modication to the subframe, etc.

Try looking on 16VMini.com and here in the 'Non mini engined projects' section. loads of people have fitted the K-series GTA lump,.. it's a fine engine.

Try the search function here too. There's tonnes of info about on the web.

Maybe try Pm'ing Geehawk,... he's been running a GTA lump for some time.

involves a k-series subframe to be bought or a mini subframe modified..

change of drive shafts

change of wiring loom

as it has injection it means running another fuel line and a change of petrol tank to mpi or spi

doesnt require a flip front but will require inner wings being cut out.

new exhaust needed to mate to the front manifold

remote oil filter needed and the alternator will need to be relocated...

=] i know all about this now!

also try 16v mini shop, they sell all the bits you need to fit a K series metro lump. The shop owner is pretty helpful, if you get stuck give them a ring.
