rear subframe is removed, so is the outer sill, the main problem i seem to be facing is inside the rear seat pocket underneath the cardboard trim is what can only be described as a support/crossmember ???, this has rusted and crumbles in my hand (only on the vertical bit, not the horizontal bit), it doesn't look possible to get the mig in there to weld up, are there any options other than removing the rear quarter panel ??? HELP !!!
ps. is it an MoT failure point ?

yes it should be an MoT fail anything within a foot of a suspension mounting point is the rule, but more importantly it is structural as it is actually part of the inner sill. If you have the outer sill off you should be able to get at it from the outside.

Isn't the vertical bit actually part of the wheel arch panel?

I have the same prob. Gonna wait till i get a cage then cut out the bins and the rear seat lip and I'll be able to get at it then not much help if you want to keep the bins. Mind you I think it's been like this (not too bad a state but holed) for a while and has got through MOT's. Didn't think they looked in there as it's always full of stuff I never take out for MOT.
