Have a problem with clutch drag on the rebuilt Mg engine
have changed Verto clutch friction plate for Turbo plate from Minispares
cover plate is a new spare I aquired in a job lot ditto release bearing , wok is original MG pivot arm had some wear & has been built up with weld, I have made an extended push rod to try to get round this problem no good , has new slave, pipe and rebuilt master clevis pin to the pedal has been replaced. Any ideas only other thing i can think is the cover plate is a mis match and not up to the job. Clutch stop is wound off and not connecting with wok.

When you mean drag, is it that the clutch is not full disenagaging, hence all your checking of the arms, slave etc...
As a Verto clutch is not adjustable, it has to be a fundamental error in dimensions, ie the CRB is not being pushed far enough, or the clutch is too far away !
May be a silly questions, but is all the clutch mechanism, Verto.

Yes it's not releasing, I can use the car just Need to start in gear as it won't engage standing . up changes are very stiff and i need to double clutch on down shift. all the parts are Verto and new. as said i made a longer rod up to give more movement at the lever didn't work. I've a feeling that the cover plate is the problem but was hoping to avoid stripping it out again

That's well strange...
I think you're right on having to strip it out, but would be worth checking things like the CRB has not collapsed ( which has happened to me )
Also may be worth checking the position of the fit of the pressureplate assembly onto the nose of the crank ?

Hi
Did you fix the clutch drag problem? I have the same problem, the gears crunch in 1st and reverse. I have a pre-vertodiaphram clutch.
If you fixed the problem what did you do?
Thanks
John
