Well found my mini on ebay and currently winning it

it,s a 1982 austin mini Hl auto with a 998cc engine


its all stock and looks fairly tidy with only the usual rust spots on the sill and in the boot area.

PLANS:

The plan is to turn it into a 'shorty pickup' i.e cut rear roof section off, make pick up floor using boot and bench as level. make a rear firewall behind seats with window and do a roof chop! as well as fitting a full roll cage to keep the strength of the veichal and yes the rear cage will be external but bolted onto the front section and going trough the rear fire wall.



i will update soon as i start on the car.

Hi..!..that sounds a brill idear can ont wait to see porject, try minimachine they might have or replicate pick up rear csreen panel............good luck................

cheers for the posotive replys i was unsure wether people would give me reasons not to do this to a saloon mini.


i have now won the mini and will be piking it up this week so i shall take some detailed pics of the car.

i also have a set of imported bubble arches from japan origanly for my micra so i shall be using them pn the pick up project

as time goes on and i make progress i will be taking lotds and lots of pictures to show how the project is coming along.


oh yeah i am making rivera run as my deadline to finsh by so everyone cross your fingers and wish me luck

Big challenge will be fuel tank, as its under the floor at the rear in the pickup.

well seeing as there will be space under the rear bench i can sit it under there and have a side mounted filler cap and neck.


bit of a delay in getting the car but am going down st awfull today and collecting it, so if anyone sees a toyota surf with a mini on the back then wave or beep,lol

Loadbed will be a little high, but it will work.

well today the only thing i have done to the car is poke it with a screwdriver, reason for this is to replace any rotten panels and get the car ready for a mot before i start chopping it up, i think its a wise step im taking :s

Both sills need replacing and couple of patches need doing in the passenger footwell and in the boot area but the rest of the car is very tody for the year.

I finally got the bonnet open as it had stuck shut for some strange reason and to reveal the block had been painted yellow and it has a shiny rocker cover on...so im guessing the previous owner was a mini finatic aswell

minisport are pricing up some things for me so i should see some newe panels this week yey

Well friday was a happy day as things started arriving for the car, i received my 2 sills,drivers door step and passenger floor pan.


Hopefully it wont be long until they get fitted and then off to get mot'd


Then its cutting time wich i will be filing just for the amusement of the mini forum members,lol]
