I've seen them advertising on eBay and I was wondering if they are any good and morre importantly, safe. I would be fitting it to a sprint/hillclimber so MSA/FIA regs don't apply but I don't want something that isn't safe. I know that you should never skimp on safety but I'm running a very very tight budget at £150 for a new cage does sound good, and they're just down the road from me!

Any advice greatly appricated.

CLICK
and just to clarify you do still have to get scruttinered where you hillclimb dont you? and therefore they may not like the look of the cage
edit : if its in association with the national hillclimbing wotnot then it will be guided by the the blue msa book, and so it would have to be approved would it not? and to be fair any cage thats not approved i wouldnt use anyhow

Whatever comapany you get it from, make sure its made from either CDS tube or T45. I believe Geronimo's use seamed tube as standard, the safety concern being that the seam would be the weak part in a crash and could split.
There has also been concerns over their general design, with a lot of people worried about the bars that they have directly above where you sit. You wouldn't want those to deform in a crash!!
I know your on a tight budget, but don't skimp on safety, especially for motorsport use!

Just checking. I didn't think they'd be any good! I'll go for a rear four point bolt in one in that case. They're in budget at anout £160 IIRC and should offer a bit of protection.

you could even be lucky enough to pick up an fia approved safety devices or roll centre cage on here or ebay etc at a low price, you wouldnt regret it
whatever you do though good luck with it hope you get what your looking for

I do admit though, I think Safety Devices is expensive for what it is, not sure how Roll Centre prices compare?
