Ive got a mayfair and im thinking of removing the pinstripes as their beginning to look a little sorry, does anyone know how to do this? also if the paint is darker under the stripes will t cutting help? cheers

T cutting MIGHT help but probably not.. Best way to remove pin stripes is to use a hairdryer and pick it off slowly. If it doesn't want to get removed take your time, since jerking it off (when cold esp.) could result in paint being ripped off. Although in my experiences I've found mini paint (if its original) to be quite durable!

good hot day they almost fall off, also have a rag and some turps ( sorry White spirits ) available, should get the remains od the sticky stuff off..

Also one point before you start, check the fading of the blue, peel a little back on the wing, as you may find that once you've taken them off you still have pinstripes ( the original colour now being visible )

cool, thanks, ill try removing the sticky bit under 1 of those pieces of pink puzzle thats come off and see what the colour looks like under that, ill let you know how it goes :cool:

If u havent started yet i used boiling water to get mine off, it dilutes the glue as well as melting it. watch ur hands tho it'll be hot.lol

yeah i'll bear that in mind, im gonna do it first thing this weekend, can't wait to see what the car looks like without them :grin: i also heard somewhere that you can remove the scummy glue with WD-40 aswell. ill try a few things and see which ones work best though

ive done a bit, didnt have time for the rest, we sorted the spark plugs and ht cables, they wer shockingly bad, starts 1st time now :thumbsup: so satisfying its unbelievable. anyways yeh, the pinstrips, need a bit of advice, how far you reackon i shoud go ive don this so far
