ok, so my mini failed its national lottery (mot) on the fact that the exhaust was leaking at the join between the manifold and downpipe, so i got anew clamp and off i went, WHAT A PAIN IN THE BLOODY ARSE! ended up with a new manifold and gasket set, put them and clamp on, bandaged inside the clamp, gun gummed around it, mot arsehole says it is still blowing a bit! i'm sick to death of the bloody thing,so i threw the keys at him and told him to bloody sort it out! i think i scared him! GOOD! ()

anyway i reckon this must be a common problem and the website wont let me search,so here iam, does anyone know the best fix for this problem? pleasssssssssssssssse
thanx in advance,tim

cooper free flow would be better for a 998

all i can suggest is clean both faces of the manifold and down pipe

loosen the exhaust to give a bit of movement

smear a bit of sealant onto both faces and clamp together with a new clamp

tighten the exhaust back

start your mini up but don't rev it until the sealer has gone hard

and that should do it

as bungle says, use sand paper to mak sure all the hard gum is off, i used to put a jack under the exhuast to hold it tight on before clamping. i hope your not paying again and again for the retest. if you are i would go somewhere else of complain to vosa
