Wouldnt say it was realy a techincal problem but its also not a styling thing either...
mods and admin could you move accordingly >_<

my lights are quite dim.. but no more so than any other minis ive checked.. the lights just dont seem to be fantastic and at night it can be quite intimidating to be driving along and then realise your lights are no where near as bright as any other car..

Which lights or bulb sets do people recommend.
as ill be changing my loom soon, wattage isnt too much of an issue as i can always uprate the wiring in that area.

any help would be recommended...

Matt and his very dim car!

you could try some (brite whites/blues) the halogen type from halfrauds that is assuming youve got halogens fitted? they are 100 times better than anything standard

well i got some crystal halogens (non angel) from a show £22.50, they are great and you can use brightwhites in those, ive got some 90's lazerlights in mine and they look damn cool, as far as i know though they are completely obselete, i havent seen any for years they give you a prism effect but are still predominantly brightwhite. if you look closely at my sig you can just make them out.

Is your Mini old enough to be still on sealed beams (like huge bulbs)? You could get some halogens as direct replacements. If you already have halogens check the condition of the earths. You won't need to upgrade your wiring the lights will still be rated the same unless you fit, illegal, high wattage bulbs.

You can see if you have sealed beams just by looking through the lens: no bulb inside. Might have Unipart GLU 104 written on them too.

If you have all in one (AKA Sealed units) then yep - you need to buy new bulbs and headlamp units.

I've got the new wipac crystal reflectors (from minitrailers.com, but they're V slow so get them from minispares instead) with some good H4 bulbs. If you decide to get 100W blubs, then make sure a) you don't get caught (55W/60W is the legal max) and b) make sure your wiring is uprated to cope with the extra load they generate.

My standard legal wattage blubs do a pretty good job though, and even though you're still looking for the verge/white line while some cars pass, it's not so bad. I wouldn't go for the halo crystal lights, because everyone is running them now and I don't think they're as good. Plus the wipac lights are legal and 'E' marked too..

They're top.

they are legal as they have to be 90% white, which mine are, of course you cant get them now anyway so theres no point to that, but the crystal halogen conversion if you fit them with either britewhite or briteblue from halfrauds are totally legal. The halogen conversions dont normally come with bulbs you see.

I think ebay sell them for £20 ish but dont buy the angel eye ones they are cheap and nasty and no good for daily use,

Mine are crystals and E marked as well, from minispares when they were at a show, damn good lights, mind you, i dont tend to drive the mini at night as its just my fun car.

nah im not keen on angel eyes...

yes i do believe they are sealed units..

and i hadn't really noticed how bad they were until the other night when it was pitch black.. and my windscreen has slightly misted... i couldn't see a thing.. got out.. wiped the wind screen but then noticed how dim my lights were.. checked them against another mini.. and they were exactly the same..

Im off to halfords tonight in any case.. so i can pop in and check prices etc...
and ill also check with simon to see what my options are regarding the actual lights.. and ill buy the bulbs seperatly.

Nah, get the Wipac clears like mine - they give a good clean output with a nice sharp cut off to avoid glare. >_<

-----edit-------
And what ever blubs you like - mine came with some standard H4's, but I found some 30% brighter jobbies in lidls for £2.50 and they were better than the halfrauds extra bright blubs I got for my neon. Go Lidl!

If manfred was a daily drive, i would probably do that to be honest but hes a complete showoff so hes keeping his crystals for the time being, see how we get on. hes not keen on the dark anyway.
The bulbs ive been banging on about are v v good though, you should check them out... apparently mine are called ultrablue or something not briteblue as i said before. they are good though anyway

Getting rid of sealed beams is one of the best things you can do to a mini!

I'd go for the wipacs myself.

Oh, I was meaning that for matt, Kc. But yeah, fair enough.

They've got a clear polycarbonate lens which I think I prefer to glass and they're pretty cheap too.
