Not had much luck with the exhaust on my Mini, a few weeks ago I drove over a impossibly big speedbump where it bottomed out (on a standard height car - not getting Hi-Los now then!) and ripped a hole the size of a 10p coin out of the front pipe.
Oh well I thought, cat back the whole system is leaking, I'll replace it when I pass my test for something a little louder and do the front pipe aswell.
Then tonight, with my sister in law kindly taking me out for some practice 4 days before my test - the back box decides its had enough and breaks off at front where the pipe is welded to the can. So we stop at a petrol station, bodge it up as best I can, then slowly drove home, to come back on the road with the most manholes ever. I was weaving about trying not to make the car jump about on the bumps. Fell off again when we got it home.
I really can't belive my luck - the worst part is I'm taking my test in Macclesfield, lots of national speed limit roads on the test route, so my Dad and I will have to bodge it up as best we can so it will hopefuly not drop off at 60mph when I'm practicing.
To replace it I want a centre exit twin s/s exhaust with rolled outer tips. Seen one by Minex? Are they any good? If so, is there anywhere else apart from Minimine that sells them. The car is a '94 Sprite Spi.

D'oh - exhaust fell off!

Ah! Falling off exhausts! Been there
Just use some chicken wire and tie it to the subframe... works even at high speeds, but inspect the wire after every single drive... its surprising what an exhaust can rip through!
Oh, and I suggest you get a complete new system, stop repairing this poor thing

Yes all I need now is the cat to go and it'll need a whole new system (touch wood!).

Sympathise with tales of speed bumps & torn-off exhausts. Have just installed a stainless steel side exit system bought at a mini show. It isn't quite aligned right yet so I'll have to have another look. The s/s system sounds much more rorty than the previous maniflow (nice). Someone told me that a s/s system is all very pretty but if it isn't stainless on the inside as well you might as well not bother. Can anyone say if this is true?

My dad welded it up while I was still asleep this morning.
Minex cat back system is on the way!
Yes it was quite funny, but it does seem as if we finally have it running perfect it develops another niggly fault. Oh well it's part of the fun.
Speed bumps were fun for about 3 seconds where I live, I live in roundabout city, where there are many, many speedbumps!
