Mornin guys and girls,

I live in a bit of a shady area at the moment and im putting a hell of a lot of time and money into my turbo poject to get it just how i want it. So i dont want it to go missing off my drive as soon as i get the thing finished so im trying to get as many security features as possible into it.

Im looking into decent alarm systems at the moment but i thought to myself they cant steal my car very easily without a steering wheel.

so, to the point(god im making this so long winded) what variety of snap off steering wheels have you got and what are the pros and cons of having one.

cheers
piglet

brilliant idea and works very well. Ive had them on previous cars but due to me using a moto lita wheel I couldnt use one on the mini. they will work with pretty much any other wheel though, momo, sparco, mountney raid etc
Excellent visible security device, cheap and hassle free.

bought one from minispeed years ago, still using it now, its called Snap-off

pros....
you can take the wheel off
makes it very easy to get out of mini with bucket seats with high sides
good theft deterant
needs to be removed using a key, wont come off by accident

Cons....
put on without the key, if you leave it in the car its pointless taking it off unless its in the boot, or chained(bike lock) to roll cage/harness hole in seats/seat frames

iv got all that sorta stuff already, battery cut off, fuel pump, ignition all attached to my push button start. but as taz said that can be gotton around. i park my car with the wheels either left or right any way it cannot be pushed straight back or forward.

I'd suggest a wheel clamp, very effective and quite a lot of effort to move the car with it on still, if they break the steering lock you can turn the wheels without a wheel on there.

I prefer the woc lock. Mole grips make a good steering aid.

Is that the one off ebay? I was looking at that earlier. Had you fitted it? The only thing that worried me about it is that there is no key to release it, so you may accidently detach the wheel, or is this very unlikely?

Sorry about the hi-jack

james :)
