Just done something really stupid, and spilt the oil from the washing up bowl i drained it into when trying to take it to the dump.

I managed to splash quite an amount up my front motorbike tyre. Now being motorbikes have 2 wheels, this isnt ideal.

Any ideas of how to remove it? Ive got engine degresant, but im scared it will perrish the tyre.

Obviously i want it off quick, because i dont want it to seep in and me come off when cornering!

Lots of hot water and some finish line MTB degreaser? The hot water is the key I think as old oil is normally really thick - especially in this weather.

Failing that, just get straight out there with the hot water and fairy liquid to start with.

Or pressure wash it off?

+1 and a scrubbing brush. After cleaning run water down it with a watering can and watch for the oily deposits, if any clean some more.

I certainly was gone! I wanted to get out there and sort it quick!

Thanks for the quick response! Should be all sorted now! 2x kettle full of near boilng water, and fairy liquid. scrubbed it hard with a brush inbetween!

Its only on a 125 bike, so i wont be going mad when cornering, but i think its still better to have no oil on tyres!

Thanks again for the advice and quick responce!

Good stuff. I'd take it steady and see how they go. You could find a nice smooth, clean, straight bit of tarmac and try a few good front wheel lock ups to see how/if it's affected it. As long as you're going in a straight line you should be able to stay up right, just go slow to start with if you've never done it before!

hmmm.. that's only a suggestion! I don't want to be blamed for your insurance claim or broken bones if it goes pete tong!

i think the normal way is to put the bike into first, stand with each foot on the floor pushing down on the handle bars

put the front brake on give its some beans and let go the clutch

the back wheel will now spin and burn off the oil

125? I think you'd be burning the clutch for fun instead!

Just set light to them both and save the hassle?!
