anyone know the font that is used on the old Haynes manual?
as in the part that says 'owners workshop manual'

it looks like the times new roman bold or the georgia bold.

looks like a font called 'Bernard' to me
but i can't find a non-condensed version and I can't find a freebie one!

its not times new roman, it looks like cooper black... but the a is slightly different.....

ahh, right. the O have a thinner hole than times. but bernard's hole seem to straight and tight...maybe the uncondensed version will be rounder.
couldnt you just draw the font out? with a pen?

You do of course realise that this manual was printed long before there was such a thing as True Type Fonts and that it will probably be a proprietary set of hot metal type owned by Haynes, who print their own books. There won't be an exact match for every character in any type face, just get as close as you can.

Yeah, my Mum used to work as a freelance graphic designer for Haynes..... most of their work was hand drawn, including some of their fonts!
She had hours and hours or work from them drawing 'exploded' views of engines etc.... very cool if you ask me

Surely the do all of it on computer now though, and it would only stand to reason that they would have converted that font to one they can use on computer, most probably a true type?
