OK, I have my thoughts on the best way, but lets see everyone else's.
When installing a rear screen (or I suppose a front for that matter) do you:

Place rubber onto car, fit corner of screen into rubber and the use a suitable tool to ease the screen in all the way round.

or

Fit rubber to screen and then use the 'string technique' to fit to the car.

First method, allows you to silicone the seal and that's how it's designed if you look at what the filler strip does.

Agree with Ethel. I only use the string method on the fixed rear quarters.

Actually I intended to use a tyre leaver.

Admittedly a small, strong plastic one intended for a bike.

minis front and rear screens use a claytonwright sp rubber, these are designed to be fitted to the shell first then the bottom of the screen dropped in and the rubber eased over the glass.
regards the filler strip many cars screen rubbers were the type that are fitted with cord and had a filler strip also, these were fitted before the glass was inserted in the car but with claytonwright are fitted after.

Two excellent posts - I'll reprimand myself later for not having consulted the FAQ.

In my defence that is how I was planning to do it, just a discussion came up earlier today where someone recommended the rope trick. Midridge's info is nice background - thanks.
